The location around the hotel is pretty awesome with some very rugged geographical formations...
and we had great views of the Indus river from our hotel.
The hotel also seems to be built in an orchard. There were a few flowering fruit trees (maybe pear but we aren't sure).
And there was an interesting bird with some vivid blue plumage. It turned out it was a black billed magpie.
This was another lazy day that was mainly a drive to the main city of Leh. On the way we stopped at Magnetic Hill. This is a short stretch of road that seems to have magical magnetic properties. If you stop your car in the area between the lines painted on the pavement and put it in neutral the car will eventually start rolling up hill. Or at least it certainly looks like you are rolling up hill. Depending on the researched sources it is either an optical illusion or a magnetic magic.

In Leh we are staying at the Druk Palace hotel.
We have a lovely large room with views of the Leh Palace,
the Shanti Stupa, and the gardens and cows at the properties next door to the hotel. The cows look much like yaks but we were told they are called zohs (pronounced zoos) by the Ladakhi.

We had dinner at the hotel and went to bed relatively
early. Mary is marginally better from
the cold but is really trying to take it easy.
