Sat, Apr 22: Transfer to Ship

Leisurely morning.  We could sleep in (but didn’t), had breakfast and finished packing.  We then took a walk along the bay front. It is a lovely walk and in the morning the temperature is nice.

Pick-up time was 10:00.  The driver took us to the Taj Mahal Palace hotel where we picked up Tara and the McCandless’s.  We had a short wait there so walked across the street to the bay/ocean front.  There were a lot of fishing boats there and we had views of the Gateway to India, which we had previously seen at night.

Then it was off to the dock to board our cruise ship, the Azamara Journey.  The ship is small with only 690 passengers maximum.  However, the common areas are lovely and the room quite comfortable.  Departure was at 6:00pm.  We are off on a 21 day cruise.

Dinner was with three couples, one from Scotland, one from Australian and one from Canada.

The show tonight featured all of the on-board cruise ship talent and a couple of the entertainers that will be performing during the trip.  The latter included a couple of male vocalists, a female vocalist, and a pianist.  As far as we were concerned they were only ok. But other entertainers that joined the cruise later were good.  In the finale a couple of cruise staff also sang, including the cruise director Eric.  Mary thought he had the best voice of any of the singers and he turned out to be quite an entertainer (turned out he has actually performed on Broadway).
